Trees

Many residents contacted us regarding the Park District cutting down trees in the Loomis St. Community Garden and Skinner Park.  As many people wrote, all the trees were healthy.  Unfortunately, most of the trees were cut down in error.  The Park District thought that they were infested with the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) but the trees were healthy.  The advisory council had been working with the City to treat the trees in the Loomis St. Community Garden to prevent EAB.   Moving forward, the Park District has committed to working with the Skinner Park Advisory Council before cutting down any more trees.

New trees will be planted to replace the trees that were cut down.  Thank you for everyone’s concern.  If you would like to volunteer and help us plant new trees, please contact us.
