Advisory Council Registration Missing!
To date (six months and counting), we have not received a formal letter from the Chicago Park District explaining in writing why
Tim King, Director of Intergovernmental and Community Affairs has stated that the Chicago Park District has no record of the Skinner Park Advisory Council and why Tim King told May Toy to "cease and desist" referring to herself as the President of the Skinner Park Advisory Council.
.
Since we have a receipt for our registration information, we have asked the Board of Commissioners for
an investigation as to why Tim King claims that the Skinner Park Advisory Council never existed and how all our paperwork disappeared.
Further, as an independent nonprofit community group, the Skinner Park Advisory Council is not govern by the Chicago Park District.
We do not solicit nor receive any financial support from the Chicago Park District for the operations of the advisory council.
While we work to improve Skinner Park to meet the community's needs, the Skinner Park Advisory Council is solely supported by its volunteer members and private donations. ~97% of all monetary donations goes directly to improving Skinner Park, with ~3% for operations like office supplies, postage, and signage. Since the Skinner Park Advisory Council is an independent self-governing organization with elected officers, the Chicago Park District lacks authority to demand that May Toy "cease and desist" referring to herself as the President of the Skinner Park Advisory Council when she was duly elected.
While the Skinner Park Advisory Council wants to work in partnership with the Chicago Park District to improve Skinner Park, the advisory council does not work for nor are we governed by the Chicago Park District.
It is extremely disturbing, after accepting tens of thousands of dollars in donations ( drinking fountains, day camp scholarships, landscape improvements, movies, concerts, etc. ) from the advisory council
to improve Skinner Park for years, that Chicago Park District now claims that they have no record of the advisory council.

Drinking Fountain Update
The Skinner Park Advisory Council has purchased two drinking fountains to be donated to Skinner Park. The funds were provided by a donation from Mr. Feldstein, Skinner Park dog owners (2005 dog calendar sales), a grant from Friends of the Parks, and the remaining balance from the Skinner Park Advisory Council's general fundraising. Thank you to everyone for their support!

The new drinking fountains are ADA accessible, pet friendly. We also ordered the hose hookup option to help the volunteers who maintain the community flowerbeds.
Special thanks to Mr. Feldstein for his pledge of $3,000
to purchase the other drinking fountain in memory of his late wife.
