Chicago Park District - Whitney Young High School Swimming Pool

The Chicago Park District operates the Whitney Young High School Swimming Pool for community use with lifeguards on duty based on the schedules below.  Please note the dates that the pool will be closed.

The swimming pool locker rooms were remodeled in 2003 with new bathrooms and new lockers.

Fall 2006 Swimming Pool Schedule

Important: We are currently asking the Park District to reopen the pool for community use on the weekends.  

The pool could be available on the weekends for morning and afternoon swim access.

Pool Rules and Regulations

1) Obey the lifeguards and follow pool rules, they are here for your safety.

2) All persons are required to shower before entering the pool area.

3) Food and drink are limited to designated areas.  No gum, candy, glass containers, smoking, or food is allowed in the pool area.

4) Clean swimwear is required.

5) No running is allowed on pool deck.

6) Only clean footwear, baby strollers, or wheelchairs are allowed in the pool area.

7) Persons with open wounds, excessive sunburn, abrasions that have not healed, or bandage of any kind cannot be allowed in the water.

8) Except during Park District classes, SCUBA gear is not allowed in the pool.

9) No floatation devices may be used in the pool.

10) Family Swim - Parents / Guardians must accompany children in the water.

11) Children 8 & under who are not at least 8" taller than the shallow end must be accompanied by an adult.
